And John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and was eating locusts and wild honey.

Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they spoke to Jesus about her.

And John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and they came and said to Him, “Why do John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?”

But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.

And they began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He took along the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and entered the room where the child was.

For John had been saying to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”

And He was saying to her, “Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

But she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.”

But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”

For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.

Immediately the boy’s father cried out and was saying, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”

Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake,

And they brought one. And He said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” And they said to Him, “Caesar’s.”

And Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were amazed at Him.

“Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves behind a wife and leaves no child, his brother should marry the wife and raise up a seed for his brother.

and to love Him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as himself, is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

who devour widows’ houses, and for appearance’s sake offer long prayers; these will receive greater condemnation.”

And when the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was God’s Son!”
