6“aCome, let us return to Yahweh. For bHe has tornus, but cHe will heal us;He has struckus, but He will dbandage us.2“He will amake us aliveafter two days;He will braise us up on the thirdday,That we may livebefore Him.3“So let us aknow, let us pursue to knowYahweh. His bgoingforth is established as the dawn; And He will come to us like the crain,Like the 1laterainwatering the earth.”4What shall I do with you, O aEphraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? For your lovingkindness is like a bmorningcloudAnd like the dew which goes away early.5Therefore I have ahewntheminpieces by the prophets;I have killed them by the bwords of My mouth; And the judgments on you are like the light that goesforth.6For aI delight in lovingkindnessbratherthansacrifice,And in the knowledge of Godratherthanburntofferings.7But alike 1Adam they have btrespassed against the covenant; There they have cdealttreacherously against Me.8aGilead is a city of workers of iniquity,With a track of bblood.9And as araiderswait for a man,So a band of priestsbmurder on the way to Shechem;Surely they have committedclewdness.10In the house of Israel I have seen an aappallingthing;Ephraim’sbharlotry is there; Israel has defiled itself.11Also, O Judah, there is a aharvestset for youWhen I brestore the fortunes of My people,7When I awould healIsrael,Then the iniquity of Ephraim is uncovered,And the evildeeds of Samaria,For they workbfalsehood; The thiefentersin;cRaiders1ransackoutside,2And they do not say to their heartsThat I arememberall their evil. Now their bdeeds are allaround them; They are before My face.3aWith their evil they make the bkingglad,And the princes with their cdeceptions.4They are aalladulterers,Like an ovenheated by the bakerWho ceases to stirupthe fireFrom the kneading of the doughuntil it isleavened.5On the 1day of our king, the princesabecamesick with the heat of wine;He stretchedout his hand with bscoffers,6For their hearts are like an aovenAs they drawnear in their 1plotting;Their 2anger3smoldersallnight;In the morning it burns like a flamingfire.7All of them arehot like an oven,And they devour their ajudges; All their kings have fallen.bNone of them calls on Me.8Ephraimamixeshimself with the peoples;Ephraim has become a cake not turned.9aStrangersdevour his power,Yet he bdoes not knowit;Grayhairsalso are sprinkled on him,Yet he does not knowit.10So the apride of Israelanswersagainst him,Yet bthey have not returned to Yahweh their God,Nor have they sought Him, for allthis.11So aEphraim has become like a sillydove, bwithout a heartof wisdom; They call to cEgypt; they go to dAssyria.12When they go, I will aspread My netover them;I will bring them down like the birds of the sky.I will bchastise them in accordance with the report to their congregation.13aWoe to them, for they have bfled from Me!Destruction is theirs, for they have transgressed against Me!And I cwould redeem them, but they speakliesagainst Me.14And athey do not cryout to Me in their heartWhen they wail on their beds;Forthesakeofgrain and newwine they 1,bgathertogether as sojourners; They cdepart from Me.15Although I disciplinedandstrengthened their arms,Yet they adeviseevilagainst Me.16They turn, but not 1upward;They are like a adeceitfulbow;Their princes will fall by the swordBecause of the 2,bindignation of their tongue.Thiswill be their cscoffing in the land of Egypt.
