“You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold, two and a half cubits long and one and a half cubits wide.

You shall make two cherubim of gold; make them of hammered work at the two ends of the mercy seat.

Make one cherub at one end and one cherub at the other end; from one piece you shall make the mercy seat with the cherubim at its two ends.

The cherubim shall have their wings spread upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward one another; the faces of the cherubim are to be toward the mercy seat.

You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony which I will give to you.

There I will meet with you; and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak to you about all which I will command you for the sons of Israel.

You shall put the mercy seat on the ark of the testimony in the Holy of Holies.

You shall put this altar in front of the veil that is near the ark of the testimony, in front of the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with you.

Then he took the testimony and put it into the ark and attached the poles to the ark and put the mercy seat on top of the ark.

And Yahweh said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he shall not enter at any time into the holy place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, so that he will not die; for I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat.

And he shall put the incense on the fire before Yahweh, that the cloud of incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the ark of the testimony, so that he will not die.

Moreover, he shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east side; also in front of the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.

“Then he shall slaughter the goat of the sin offering which is for the people and bring its blood inside the veil and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull. And he shall sprinkle it on the mercy seat and in front of the mercy seat.

Now when Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim, so He spoke to him.

For it was of Yahweh to strengthen their hearts, to meet Israel in battle in order that he might devote them to destruction, that they might receive no mercy, but that he might destroy them, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

Then David gave to his son Solomon the pattern of the porch of the temple, its buildings, its storehouses, its upper rooms, its inner rooms, and the room for the mercy seat;

His arrows surround me. Without mercy He splits my kidneys open; He pours out my gall on the ground.

In all their distress He was distressed, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, And He lifted them and carried them all the ancient days.

Therefore, O king, may my advice seem good to you: break away now from your sins by doing righteousness and from your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor, in case there may be a prolonging of your prosperity.’

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

And as Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”

And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed.”

“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he has seizures and suffers terribly; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water.
