⁹“For ^awhen you return to Yahweh, your brothers and your sons will find compassion before those who led them captive and will return to this land. ^bFor Yahweh your God is gracious and compassionate, and will not turn His face away from you if you return to Him.”

¹⁷“They refused to listen,And ^adid not remember Your wondrous deeds which You did among them;So they became stiff-necked and ^bgave themselves a chief to return to their slavery ¹in Egypt.But You are a God ^cof lavish forgiveness,Gracious and compassionate,Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness;And You did not forsake them.

³¹“Nevertheless, in Your abundant compassion You ^adid not make a complete destruction of them or forsake them,For You are ^ba gracious and compassionate God.

^aIncline Your ear, O Yahweh, and answer me;For I am ^bafflicted and needy.²^aKeep my ¹soul, for I am a ^bholy one;O You my God, save Your slave who ^ctrusts in You.³Be ^agracious to me, O Lord,For ^bto You I call all day long.⁴Make glad the soul of Your slave,For to You, O Lord, ^aI lift up my soul.⁵For You, Lord, are ^agood, and ^bby nature forgiving,And ^cabundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You.⁶^aGive ear, O Yahweh, to my prayer;And give heed to the voice of my supplications!⁷In ^athe day of my distress I shall call upon You,For ^bYou will answer me.⁸There is ^ano one like You among the gods, O Lord,Nor are there any works ^blike Yours.⁹^aAll nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord,And they shall glorify Your name.¹⁰For You are ^agreat and ^bdo ¹wondrous deeds;You alone ^care God.¹¹^aTeach me Your way, O Yahweh;I will walk in Your truth;^bUnite my heart to fear Your name.¹²I will ^agive thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,And will glorify Your name forever.¹³For Your lovingkindness toward me is great,And You have ^adelivered my soul from Sheol below.¹⁴O God, arrogant men have ^arisen up against me,And ¹a band of ruthless men have sought my ²life,And they have not set You before them.¹⁵But You, O Lord, are a God ^acompassionate and gracious,Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and ¹truth.¹⁶^aTurn to me, and be gracious to me;Oh ^bgrant Your strength to Your slave,And save the ^cson of Your maidservant.¹⁷¹^,^aShow me a sign for good,That those who hate me may ^bsee it and be ashamed,Because You, O Yahweh, ^chave helped me and comforted me.

^aBless Yahweh, O my soul,And all that is within me, bless His ^bholy name.²Bless Yahweh, O my soul,And ^aforget none of His benefits;³Who ^apardons all your iniquities,Who ^bheals all your diseases;⁴Who ^aredeems your life from the pit,Who ^bcrowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;⁵Who ^asatisfies your ¹years with good things,So that your youth is ^brenewed like the eagle.⁶Yahweh ^aperforms righteous deedsAnd judgments for all who are ^boppressed.⁷He ^amade known His ways to Moses,His ^bacts to the sons of Israel.⁸Yahweh is ^acompassionate and gracious,^bSlow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.⁹He ^awill not always contend with us,And He will not ^bkeep His anger forever.¹⁰He has ^anot dealt with us according to our sins,And He has not rewarded us according to our iniquities.¹¹For as high ^aas the heavens are above the earth,So great is His lovingkindness toward those who ¹fear Him.¹²As far as the east is from the west,So far has He ^aremoved our transgressions from us.¹³^aAs a father has compassion on his children,So Yahweh has compassion on those who ¹fear Him.¹⁴For ^aHe Himself knows ¹our form;He ^bremembers that we are but ^cdust.¹⁵As for man, his days are ^alike grass;As a ^bflower of the field, so he flowers.¹⁶When the ^awind has passed over it, it is no more,And its ^bplace acknowledges it no longer.¹⁷But the ^alovingkindness of Yahweh is from everlasting to everlasting on those who ¹fear Him,And His ²righteousness ^bto children’s children,¹⁸To ^athose who keep His covenantAnd remember His precepts to do them.¹⁹Yahweh has established His ^athrone in the heavens,And His ^bkingdom rules over ¹all.²⁰Bless Yahweh, you ^aHis angels,^bMighty in strength, who ^cperform His word,^dObeying the voice of His word!²¹Bless Yahweh, all you ^aHis hosts,You ^bwho serve Him, doing His will.²²Bless Yahweh, ^aall you works of His,In all places of His rule;Bless Yahweh, O my soul!

²And he ^aprayed to Yahweh and said, “Ah! O Yahweh, was not this my word to myself while I was still in my own land? Therefore I went ahead to ^bflee to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a ^cgracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning evil.

³Yahweh is ^aslow to anger and great in power,And Yahweh will by no means leave the guilty unpunished.In ^bwhirlwind and storm is His way,And ^cclouds are the dust beneath His feet.
