39Moreover, from the 1,ablue and purple and scarletmaterial, they madefinelybwovengarments for ministering in the holy place 2as well as the holygarmentswhich were for Aaron, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses.
2aHe made the ephod of gold, and of blue and purple and scarletmaterial, and finetwistedlinen. 3Then they hammeredoutgoldsheets and cutthem into threads1to be woven in with the blue and the purple and the scarletmaterial and the finelinen, the work of a skillfuldesigner. 4They madejoiningshoulder pieces for 1the ephod; it was joined at its twoupperends. 5The skillfullywovenbandwhich was on it was like its workmanship, 1of the same material: of gold, and of blue and purple and scarletmaterial, and finetwistedlinen, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses.
6aThey made the onyxstones, set all around in filigreesettings of gold; they were engravedlike the engravings of a signet, according to the names of the sons of Israel. 7And ahe placed them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, asstones of remembrance for the sons of Israel, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses.
8aHe made the breastpiece, the work of a skillfuldesigner, like the workmanship of the ephod: of gold, and of blue and purple and scarletmaterial, and finetwistedlinen. 9It was square; they made the breastpiece, having beenfoldeddouble, a 1span2long and a span3wide when foldeddouble. 10And they 1mountedfourrows of stones on it. The firstrowwas a row of ruby, topaz, and emerald; 11and the secondrow, a turquoise, a sapphire, and a diamond; 12and the thirdrow, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst; 13and the fourthrow, a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper. They were set in their filigreesettings with goldfiligree. 14The stones were corresponding to the names of the sons of Israel; they were twelve, corresponding to their names, engraved with the engravings of a signet, each with its name for the twelve tribes. 15They made on the breastpiecechains of a twistedwork of cords in puregold. 16They madetwogoldfiligreesettings and twogoldrings, and put the tworings on the twoends of the breastpiece. 17Then they put the twogoldcords in the tworings at the ends of the breastpiece. 18They put the othertwoends of the twocords on the twofiligreesettings and put them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod at the front of it. 19They madetwogoldrings and placedthem on the twoends of the breastpiece, on its inneredgewhich was next to the ephod. 20Furthermore, they madetwogoldrings and placed them on the bottom of the twoshoulder pieces of the ephod, on the front of it, close to the placewhere it joined, above the skillfullywovenband of the ephod. 21They bound the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a bluecord, so that it would be on the skillfullywovenband of the ephod, and that the breastpiece would not comeloose from the ephod, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses.
22aThen he made the robe of the ephod of wovenworkentirely of blue; 23aand the opening of the robe was at the top in the center, as the opening of a coatofmail, with a bindingallaround its opening, so that it would not be torn. 24They madepomegranates of blue and purple and scarletmaterial andtwistedlinen on the hem of the robe. 25They also madebells of puregold and put the bellsbetween the pomegranatesallaround on the hem of the 1robe, 261alternating a bell and a pomegranateallaround on the hem of the robe for the ministry, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses.
27aThey made the tunics of finelywovenlinen for Aaron and his sons, 28and the turban of finelinen, and the headdresses of the 1caps of finelinen, and the linenundergarments of finetwistedlinen, 29and the sash of finetwistedlinen, and blue and purple and scarletmaterial, the work of the 1weaver, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses.
30aThey made the plate of the holycrown of puregold and 1wrote upon it withengravedwritingas found on a signet, “Holy to Yahweh.” 31They 1fastened a bluecord to it, to 2fasten it on the turban above, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses.
32Thus all the service of constructing the 1tabernacle of the tent of meeting was acompleted; and the sons of Israeldid according to all that Yahweh had commandedMoses; so they did. 33They brought the tabernacle to Moses, the tent and all its 1furnishings: its clasps, its boards, its bars, and its pillars and its bases; 34and the covering of rams’skins1dyedred, and the covering of porpoiseskins, and the screeningveil; 35the ark of the testimony and its poles and the 1mercyseat; 36the table, all its utensils, and the bread of the 1Presence; 37the puregoldlampstand, 1with its arrangement of lamps and all its utensils, and the oil for the light; 38and the goldaltar, and the anointingoil and the fragrantincense, and the veil for the doorway of the tent; 39the 1bronzealtar and its 2bronzegrating, its poles and all its utensils, the laver and its stand; 40the hangings for the court, its pillars and its bases, and the screen for the gate of the court, its cords and its pegs, and all the 1equipment for the service of the tabernacle, for the tent of meeting; 41the wovengarments for ministering in the holy place and the holygarments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to ministeraspriests. 42Thus, according to all that Yahweh had commandedMoses, so the sons of Israeldid in all their service. 43And Mosessawall the work, and behold, they had done it; just as Yahweh had commanded, so they had done. Then Mosesablessed them.
Setting Up the Tabernacle
40Then Yahwehspoke to Moses, saying, 2“aOn the firstday of the firstmonth you shall setup the 1tabernacle of the tent of meeting. 3“aYou shall place the ark of the testimonythere, and you shall screen the ark with the veil. 4“You shall abringin the table and 1,barrangewhatbelongs on it; and you shall cbringin the lampstand and 2mount its lamps. 5“Moreover, you shall aset the goldaltar of incensebefore the ark of the testimony and setup the veil for the doorway to the tabernacle. 6“You shall set the altar of burntoffering in front of the doorway of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting. 7“You shall aset the laverbetween the tent of meeting and the altar and putwater1in it. 8“You shall setup the courtallaround and 1hangup the screen for the gateway of the court. 9“Then you shall take the anointingoil and aanoint the tabernacle and all that is in it and set it apartasholy and all its 1furnishings; and it shall be holy. 10“You shall anoint the altar of burntoffering and all its utensils, and set the altarapartasholy, and athe altar shall be mostholy. 11“You shall anoint the laver and its stand, and set it apartasholy. 12“Then you shall abringAaron and his sons to the doorway of the tent of meeting and wash them with water. 13“aYou shall put the holygarmentsonAaron and anoint him and set him apartasholy, that he may ministerasapriest to Me. 14“You shall bring his sons and puttunicson them; 15and you shall anoint them even as you have anointed their father, that they may ministeraspriests to Me; and their anointing will be for them for a aperpetualpriesthood throughout their generations.” 16Thus Mosesdid; according to all that Yahweh had commanded him, so he did.
17Now ait happened, in the firstmonth1of the secondyear, on the firstday of the month, the 2tabernacle was erected. 18Moseserected the tabernacle and 1laid its bases and setup its boards and 2inserted its bars and erected its pillars. 19He spread the tentover the tabernacle and placed the covering of the tent1on top of it, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses. 20Then he tookathe testimony and putit into the ark and 1attached the poles to the ark and put the 2mercyseat3on top of the ark. 21He brought the ark into the tabernacle and aplaced the veil of the screen and screenedoff the ark of the testimony, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses. 22Then he aput the table in the tent of meeting on the northside of the tabernacle, outside the veil. 23He set the arrangement of abreadinorder on it beforeYahweh, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses. 24Then he placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting, opposite the table, on the southside of the tabernacle. 25He alighted the lampsbeforeYahweh, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses. 26Then he aplaced the goldaltar in the tent of meeting in front of the veil; 27and he aburnedfragrantincense on it, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses. 28Then he placed the screen at the doorway of the tabernacle. 29He aplaced the altar of burntofferingbefore the doorway of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and he boffered on it the burntoffering and the mealoffering, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses. 30He placed the laverbetween the tent of meeting and the altar and putwater in it for washing. 31aFrom it Moses and Aaron and his sonswashed their hands and their feet. 32When they entered the tent of meeting, and when they approached the altar, they washed, just as Yahweh had commandedMoses. 33He aerected the courtallaround the 1tabernacle and the altar, and he putup the screen for the gateway of the court. Thus Mosesfinished the work.
The Glory of Yahweh
34aThen the cloudcovered the tent of meeting, and the bglory of Yahwehcfilled the tabernacle. 35And Mosesawas not able to enter the tent of meetingbecause the cloud had dwelt on it, and the glory of Yahwehfilled the tabernacle. 36Now throughout all their journeysawhenever the cloud was takenup from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would setout; 37but aif the cloud was not takenup, then they did not setoutuntil the day when it was takenup. 38For throughout all their journeys, athe cloud of Yahweh was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.

Jesus’ Warning

The Spirit Is Promised Again
5“But nowaI am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘bWhere are You going?’6“But because I have saidthesethings to you, asorrow has filled your heart.7“But I tell you the truth, it isto your advantage that I goaway; for if I do not goaway, the 1,aAdvocate will not come to you; but if I go, bI will send Him to you.8“And He, when He comes, will convict the worldconcerningsin and righteousness and judgment;9concerningsin, abecause they do not believe in Me;10and concerningarighteousness, becausebI go to the Father and you nolongersee Me;11aand concerningjudgment, because the ruler of thisworld has been judged.
12“I still havemanymorethings to say to you, but you cannot bearthemnow.13“But when He, athe Spirit of truth, comes, He will bguide you into all the truth; for He will not speak from Himself, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.14“He will aglorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will discloseit to you.15“aAllthings that the Fatherhas are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will discloseit to you.
Sorrow Turned to Joy
16“aA littlewhile, and byou will nolongersee Me; and again a littlewhile, and cyou will see Me.”17Some of His disciplesthensaid to oneanother, “What is this He is telling us, ‘aA littlewhile, and you will not see Me; and again a littlewhile, and you will see Me’; and, ‘becausebI go to the Father’?” 18So they were saying, “What is this that He says, ‘A littlewhile’? We do not knowwhat He is talking about.” 19aJesusknew that they were wishing to question Him, and He said to them, “Are you deliberating together aboutthis, that I said, ‘A littlewhile, and you will not see Me, and again a littlewhile, and you will see Me’?20“Truly, truly, I say to you, that ayou will cry and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but byour sorrow will be turned into joy.21“aWhenever a woman is in labor she hassorrow, because her hour has come; but when she givesbirth to the child, she nolongerremembers the sufferingbecause of the joy that a 1child has been born into the world.22“Thereforeayou toohavesorrownow; but bI will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and noonewilltake your joyaway from you.
I Have Overcome the World
23“aAnd on that daybyou will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, cif you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.24“aUntilnow you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your bjoy may be madecomplete.
25“Thesethings I have spoken to you in afigures of speech; ban hour is comingwhen I will nolongerspeak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you openly of the Father.26“aOn that daybyou will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Fatheron your behalf;27for athe FatherHimselfloves you, because you have loved Me and bhave believed that cI cameforth from the Father.28“aI cameforth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the worldagain and bgoing to the Father.”
29His disciples*said, “Behold, now You are speakingopenly and are not 1usingaa figure of speech. 30“Now we know that You knowallthings, and havenoneed for anyone to question You; by this we abelieve that You bcame from God.” 31Jesusanswered them, “Do you nowbelieve?32“Behold, aan hour is coming, and has alreadycome, for byou to be scattered, each to chis ownhome, and to leave Me alone; and yetdI am not alone, because the Father is with Me.33“Thesethings I have spoken to you, so that ain Me you may havepeace. bIn the world you havetribulation, but ctakecourage; dI have overcome the world.”
