The Passover Meal

⁷^aThen came the first day of Unleavened Bread on which ^bthe Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. ⁸And Jesus sent ^aPeter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it.” ⁹And they said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare it?” ¹⁰And He said to them, “Behold, after you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house that he enters. ¹¹“And you shall say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’ ¹²“And he will show you a large, furnished upper room; prepare it there.” ¹³And they left and found everything just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.

The Lord’s Supper

¹⁴^aAnd when the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and ^bthe apostles with Him. ¹⁵And He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; ¹⁶for I say to you, I shall never again eat it ^auntil it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” ¹⁷^aAnd when He had taken a cup and ^bgiven thanks, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves. ¹⁸“For ^aI say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.”

Who Is Greatest?

²⁴And there arose also ^aa dispute among them as to which one of them was regarded to be greatest. ²⁵^aAnd He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’ ²⁶“But not so with you; ^arather the one who is the greatest among you must become like ^bthe youngest, and the leader like the servant. ²⁷“For ^awho is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines? But ^bI am among you as the one who serves.

²⁸“Now you are those who have stood by Me in My ^atrials, ²⁹and I grant you a ^akingdom, just as My Father granted one to Me, ³⁰that you may ^aeat and drink at My table in My ^bkingdom, and ^cyou will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
