13On that dayJesuswentout of athe house and was sittingbby the sea. 2And 1largecrowdsgathered to Him, soaHe got into a boat and satdown, and the wholecrowd was standing on the beach.
3And He spokemanythings to them in aparables, saying, “Behold, the sowerwentout to sow;4and as he sowed, some seedsfellbeside the road, and the birdscame and ate them up.5“And othersfell on the rocky places, where they did not havemuchsoil; and immediately they sprangup, because they hadnodepth of soil.6“But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they hadnoroot, they witheredaway.7“And othersfell1among the thorns, and the thornscameup and choked them out.8“And othersfell on the goodsoil and were yielding1a crop, some a ahundredfold, somesixty, and somethirty.9“aHe who hasears, 1let him hear.”

18“aHearthen the parable of the sower.19“When anyonehearsathe word of the kingdom and does not understand it, bthe evil one comes and snatchesawaywhat has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sownbeside the road.20“And the one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediatelyreceives it with joy;21yet he hasnoroot in himself, but is onlytemporary, and when afflictionorpersecutionarisesbecause of the word, immediately he 1,afallsaway.22“And the one on whom seed was sownamong the thorns, this is the one who hears the word, and the worry of athe 1world and the bdeceitfulness of wealthchoke the word, and it becomesunfruitful.23“And the one on whom seed was sown on the goodsoil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; whoindeedbearsfruit and bringsforth, some aa hundredfold, somesixty, and somethirty.”
