Matthew 26:1-5

The Plot to Kill Jesus

26^1,aNow it happened that when Jesus had finished all these words, He said to His disciples, ²“^aYou know that after two days ^bthe Passover is coming, and the Son of Man is to be ^cdelivered over for crucifixion.”

^3aThen the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together in ^bthe court of the high priest, named ^cCaiaphas; ⁴and they ^aplotted together to seize Jesus by stealth and kill Him. ⁵But they were saying, “Not during the festival, ^alest a riot occur among the people.”

Judas Looks to Betray Jesus

^14aThen one of the twelve, named ^bJudas Iscariot, went to the chief priests ¹⁵and said, “What are you willing to give me ¹to ^adeliver Him to you?” And ^bthey weighed out ²thirty pieces of silver to him. ¹⁶And from then on he began looking for a good opportunity to ¹betray ²Jesus.
