Jerusalem Refined and Tested

13“In that day a ^afountain will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for ^bsin and for ^cimpurity.

²“And it will be in that day,” declares Yahweh of hosts, “that I will ^acut off the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered; and I will also cause the ^bprophets and the ^cunclean spirit to pass away from the land. ³“And it will be that if anyone still ^aprophesies, then his father and mother who gave birth to him will say to him, ‘You shall ^bnot live, for you have spoken ^cfalsely in the name of Yahweh’; and his ^dfather and mother who gave birth to him will pierce him through when he prophesies. ⁴“And it will be in that day, that the prophets will each be ^aashamed of his vision when he prophesies, and they will not put on a ^bhairy mantle in order to deceive; ⁵but he will say, ‘I am ^anot a prophet; I am a cultivator of the ground, for a man ¹sold me as a slave in my youth.’ ⁶“And one will say to him, ‘What are these wounds struck here ^abetween your ¹arms?’ Then he will say, ‘Those with which I was struck in the house of ²my friends.’

⁷“Awake, O ^asword, against My ^bShepherdAnd against the man, My ^cAssociate,”Declares Yahweh of hosts.“^dStrike the Shepherd that the sheep may be scattered;And I will ^eturn My hand ¹against the little ones.⁸“And it will be in all the land,”Declares Yahweh,“That ^atwo parts in it will be cut off and breathe their last;But the third will be left in it.⁹“And I will bring the third part through the ^afireAnd refine them as silver is refinedAnd test them as gold is tested.¹They will ^bcall on My name,And I will ^canswer them;I will say, ‘They are ^dMy people,’And they will say, ‘Yahweh is my God.’”

Yahweh Will Battle the Nations

14Behold, a ^aday is coming for Yahweh when ^bthe spoil taken from you will be divided among you. ²Indeed, I will ^agather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the ^bhouses plundered, the women ravished, and half of the city will go forth in exile, but those left of the people will not be cut off from the city. ³Then Yahweh will go forth and ^afight against those nations, as the day when He fights on a day of battle. ⁴And in that day His feet will ^astand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be ^bsplit in its middle from east to west by a very large valley so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. ⁵And you will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; indeed, you will flee just as you fled before the ^aearthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. ^bThen Yahweh, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with ¹Him!

⁶And it will be in that day, that there will be ^ano light; the ¹luminaries will dwindle. ⁷And it will be ^aa ¹unique day which is ^bknown to Yahweh, neither day nor night, but it will be that at ^cevening time there will be light.

⁸And it will be in that day, ^athat living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.

Yahweh Will Be King over All

⁹And Yahweh will be ^aking over all the earth; in that day Yahweh will be the only ^bone, and His name one.

¹⁰All the land will be changed into a plain from ^aGeba to ^bRimmon south of Jerusalem; but ¹Jerusalem will ^crise and ^dinhabit its site from ^eBenjamin’s Gate as far as the place of the First Gate to the ^fCorner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s wine presses. ¹¹And ¹people will inhabit it, and there will ^ano longer be anything devoted to destruction, for Jerusalem will ^bbe inhabited in security.

¹²Now this will be the plague with which Yahweh will plague all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will ^arot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth. ¹³And it will be in that day, that abundant confusion from Yahweh will ¹fall on them; and they will ^atake hold of one another’s hand, and the hand of one will ²go up against the hand of another. ¹⁴^aAnd Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the ^bwealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered, gold and silver and garments in great abundance. ¹⁵And in the same way, ^athe plague on the horse, the mule, the camel, the donkey, and all the cattle that will be in those camps will be like this plague.

¹⁶Then it will be that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will ^ago up from year to year to worship the King, Yahweh of hosts, and to celebrate the ^bFeast of Booths. ¹⁷And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the ^aKing, Yahweh of hosts, there will be ^bno rain on them. ¹⁸And if the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the ^aplague with which Yahweh plagues the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths. ¹⁹This will be the ¹punishment of Egypt, and the ²punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

²⁰In that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, “^aHoly to Yahweh.” And the ^bpots in the house of Yahweh will be like the bowls before the altar. ²¹And every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be ^aholy to Yahweh of hosts; and all who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in them. And there will no longer be a ¹^,^bCanaanite in the house of Yahweh of hosts in that day.

Christ’s Thousand Year Reign

20Then I saw ^aan angel coming down from heaven, having the ^bkey of the abyss and a great chain ¹in his hand. ²And he laid hold of the ^adragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and ^bbound him for a thousand years; ³and he threw him into the ^aabyss, and shut it and ^bsealed it over him, so that he would ^cnot deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were finished. After these things he must be released for a short time.

⁴Then I saw ^athrones, and ^bthey sat on them, and ^cjudgment was given to them. And I saw ^dthe souls of those who had been beheaded because of ¹their ^ewitness of Jesus and because of the word of God, and who also had not ^fworshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand. And they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. ⁵The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were finished. ^aThis is the first resurrection. ⁶^aBlessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection. Over these the ^bsecond death has no authority, but they will be ^cpriests of God and of Christ and will ^dreign with Him for a thousand years.

The Defeat of Satan

⁷And when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be ^areleased from his prison, ⁸and will come out to ^adeceive the nations which are in the ^bfour corners of the earth, ^cGog and Magog, to ^dgather them together for the war; the number of them is like the ^esand of the ¹seashore. ⁹And they ^acame up on the ¹broad plain of the earth and surrounded the ^bcamp of the saints and the ^cbeloved city, and ^dfire came down from heaven and devoured them. ¹⁰And ^athe devil who ^bdeceived them was thrown into the ^clake of fire and ¹brimstone, where the ^dbeast and the ^efalse prophet are also, and they will be ^ftormented day and night forever and ever.

The Great White Throne Judgment

¹¹Then I saw a great white ^athrone and Him who sits upon it, from whose ¹presence ^bearth and heaven fled away, and ^cno place was found for them. ¹²Then I saw the dead, the ^agreat and the small, standing before the throne, and ¹^,^bbooks were opened; and another ²book was opened, which is ^cthe book of life. And the dead ^dwere judged from the things which were written in the ³books, ^eaccording to their deeds. ¹³And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and ^adeath and Hades ^bgave up the dead which were in them, and they were judged, every one of them ^caccording to their deeds. ¹⁴Then ^adeath and Hades were thrown into ^bthe lake of fire. This is the ^csecond death, the lake of fire. ¹⁵And if ¹anyone’s name was not found written in ^athe book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Solomon and His Bride Extol Each Other

6“¹^,^aWhere has your beloved gone,O ^bmost beautiful among women?Where has your beloved turned,That we may seek him with you?”²“¹My beloved has gone down to his ^agarden,To the ^bbeds of spices,To ^cshepherd his flock in the gardensAnd gather ^dlilies.³“^aI am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine,He who ^bshepherds his flock among the lilies.”⁴“¹^,^aYou are as beautiful as ^bTirzah, my darling,As ^clovely as ^dJerusalem,As ^emajestic as ²an army with banners.⁵“Turn your eyes away from me,For they have overwhelmed me;^aYour hair is like a flock of goatsThat have leapt down from Gilead.⁶“^aYour teeth are like a flock of ewesWhich have come up from their washing,All of which bear twins,And not one among them has ¹lost her young.⁷“^aYour temples are like a slice of a pomegranateBehind your veil.⁸“There are sixty ^aqueens and eighty concubines,And ¹^,^bmaidens without number;⁹She is the only one—^amy dove, my perfect one;She is the only one of her mother;She is the pure one of her who bore her.The ^bdaughters saw her and called her blessed,The ^cqueens and the concubines also, and they praised her, saying,¹⁰‘Who is this that looks down like the dawn,As beautiful as the full ^amoon,As pure ^bas the sun,As ^cmajestic as ¹an army with banners?’¹¹“¹I went down to the garden of nut treesTo see the blossoms of the valley,To see whether ^athe vine had flourishedOr the ^bpomegranates had bloomed.¹²“I did not know it, but my soul set meAmong the chariots of ¹my noble people.”¹³“¹^,²Come back, come back, O Shulammite;Come back, come back, that we may behold you!”“³Why should you behold the Shulammite,As at the ^adance of ⁴^,^bthe two companies?
