Psalms 90 - 92
BOOK 4
From Everlasting to Everlasting, You Are God
90A Prayer of 1Moses, the man of God.
Lord, You have been our 2,adwelling place from generation to generation.2Before athe mountains were born1Or You bbrought forth the earth and the world,Even cfrom everlasting to everlasting, You are God.3You aturn man back into dustAnd say, “Return, O sons of men.”4For aa thousand years in Your sightAre like byesterday when it passes by,1Or as a cwatch in the night.5You ahave 1swept them away like a flood, they 2,bfall asleep; In the morning they are like cgrass which 3sprouts anew.6In the morning it ablossoms and 1sprouts anew;Toward evening it bwithers away and cdries up.7For we have been aconsumed by Your angerAnd by Your wrath we have been 1dismayed.8You have aset our iniquities before You,Our bsecret sins in the light of Your presence.9For aall our days have declined in Your fury;We have finished our years like a 1sigh.10As for the days of our 1life, 2they contain seventy years,Or if due to might, aeighty years,Yet their pride is but blabor and wickedness; For soon it is gone and we cfly away.11Who knows the apower of Your angerAnd Your fury, according to the bfear 1that is due You?121So ateach us to number our days,That we may 2,bpresent to You a heart of wisdom.13aReturn, O Yahweh; bhow long will it be?And 1be csorry for Your slaves.14O asatisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness,That we may bsing for joy and be glad all our days.15aMake us glad 1according to the days You have afflicted us,And the byears we have seen 2evil.16Let Your awork appear to Your slavesAnd Your bmajesty 1to their sons.17Let the afavor of the Lord our God be upon us;And bestablish for us the work of our hands;Establish the work of our hands. In the Shadow of the Almighty
91He who abides in the ashelter of the Most HighWill abide in the bshadow of the Almighty.2I will say to Yahweh, “My arefuge and my bfortress,My God, in whom I ctrust!”3For it is He who delivers you from the asnare of the trapperAnd from the destructive bpestilence.4He will acover you with His pinions,And bunder His wings you will take refuge; His ctruth is a dlarge shield and bulwark.5You awill not be afraid of bterror by night,Or carrow that flies by day;6Of apestilence that moves in darkness,Or of bdestruction that devastates at noon.7A thousand may fall at your sideAnd ten thousand at your right hand,But ait shall not approach you.8You will only look on with your eyesAnd asee the recompense of the wicked.91For you have made Yahweh—amy refuge,The Most High—byour dwelling place.10aNo evil will befall you,And no plague will come near your 1tent.11For He will command aHis angels concerning you,To guard you in all your ways.12On their hands they will abear you up,Lest you strike your foot against a stone.13You will atread upon the fierce lion and cobra,The young lion and the 1serpent you will trample down.14“aBecause he has loved Me, therefore I will protect him;I will bset him securely on high, because he has cknown My name.15“He will acall upon Me, and I will answer him;I will be with him in his 1distress;I will rescue him and bhonor him.16“With 1a along life I will satisfy himAnd bI will show him My salvation.”How Great Are Your Works, O Yahweh
92A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.
It is agood to give thanks to YahwehAnd to bsing praises to Your name, O Most High;2To adeclare Your lovingkindness in the morningAnd Your bfaithfulness 1by night,31With the aten-stringed lute and with the bharp,2With resounding music 3upon the clyre.4For You, O Yahweh, have made me glad by 1what You ahave done,I will bsing for joy at the cworks of Your hands.5How agreat are Your works, O Yahweh!Your 1,bthoughts are very cdeep.6A asenseless man does not know,And a bfool does not understand this:7That when the wicked aflourished like grassAnd all bthe workers of iniquity blossomed,It was only that they might be cdestroyed forevermore.8But You are aon high forever, O Yahweh.9For, behold, Your enemies, O Yahweh,For, behold, aYour enemies will perish; All the workers of iniquity will be bscattered.10But You have raised up my ahorn like that of the wild ox;I have 1been banointed with fresh oil.11And my eye has alooked exultantly upon 1my foes,My ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me.12The arighteous man will 1flourish like the palm tree,He will grow like a bcedar in Lebanon.13aPlanted in the house of Yahweh,They will flourish bin the courts of our God.14They will still 1,ayield fruit in old age; They shall be 2rich and fresh,15To 1declare that aYahweh is upright; He is my brock, and there is cno unrighteousness in Him.
