Prophecy About Gog’s Judgment

39“Now as for ^ayou, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, ¹chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; ²and I will turn you around, drive you on, take you up from the remotest parts of the north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. ³“And I will ^astrike your bow from your left hand and cause your arrows from your right hand to fall. ⁴“You will ^afall on the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; I will give you as ^bfood to every ¹kind of predatory bird and beast of the field. ⁵“You will fall on the ¹open field; for it is I who have spoken,” declares Lord Yahweh. ⁶“And I will send ^afire upon Magog and those who inhabit the ^bcoastlands securely; and they will know that I am Yahweh.

⁷“And My ^aholy name I will make known in the midst of My people Israel; and I will not let My holy name be ^bprofaned anymore. And the ^cnations will know that I am Yahweh, the ^dHoly One in Israel. ⁸“Behold, it is coming, and it shall be done,” declares Lord Yahweh. “That is the day of which I have spoken.

⁹“Then those who inhabit the cities of Israel will ^ago out and make ^bfires with the weapons and burn them, both shields and large shields, bows and arrows, war clubs and spears; and for seven years they will make fires of them. ¹⁰“They will not carry wood from the field or gather firewood from the forests, for they will make fires with the weapons; and they will take the spoil of those who made them into spoil and seize the ^aplunder of those who plundered them,” declares Lord Yahweh.

¹¹“And it will be in that day, that I will give Gog a burial ground there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea, and it will block off those who would pass by. So they will bury Gog there with all his multitude, and they will call it the valley of ¹Hamon-gog. ¹²“And for seven months the house of Israel will be burying them in order to ^acleanse the land. ¹³“Even all the people of the land will bury them; and it will be ¹unto their ^aname on the day that I ^bglorify Myself,” declares Lord Yahweh. ¹⁴“Now they will set apart men who will continually pass through the land, ^aburying those who were passing through, even those left on the surface of the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search. ¹⁵“And those who pass through the land will pass through, and when anyone sees a man’s bone, he will ¹set up a marker by it until the buriers have buried it in the valley of ²Hamon-gog. ¹⁶“And even the name of the city will be Hamonah. So they will cleanse the land.”’

¹⁷“Now as for you, son of man, thus says Lord Yahweh, ‘Say to every ¹kind of ^abird and to every ^bbeast of the field, “Gather and come, assemble from every side to My sacrifice which I am going to ^csacrifice for you, as a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel, that you may eat flesh and drink blood. ¹⁸“You will ^aeat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, as though they were ^brams, lambs, goats, and ^cbulls, all of them fatlings of ^dBashan. ¹⁹“So you will eat fat until you are satisfied and drink blood until you are drunk, from My sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. ²⁰“And you will be satisfied at My table with ^ahorses and charioteers, with mighty men and all the men of war,” declares Lord Yahweh.

²¹“And I will put My ^aglory among the nations; and all the nations will see My judgment which I have executed and My hand which I have placed on them. ²²“And the house of Israel will ^aknow that I am Yahweh their God from that day onward. ²³“And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile for their ^ainiquity because they acted unfaithfully against Me, and I ^bhid My face from them; so I gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and all of them fell by the sword. ²⁴“^aAccording to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I dealt with them, and I hid My face from them.”’”

Israel Will Live in Security

²⁵Therefore thus says Lord Yahweh, “Now I will return the ¹^,^afortunes of Jacob and have compassion on the whole ^bhouse of Israel; and I will be ^cjealous for My holy name. ²⁶“So they will ¹^,^aforget their dishonor and all their unfaithfulness which they ²perpetrated against Me, when they ^blive securely on their own land with ^cno one to make them tremble. ²⁷“When I ^areturn them from the peoples and gather them from the lands of their enemies, then I shall ^bprove Myself holy ¹through them in the sight of the many nations. ²⁸“Then they will know that I am Yahweh their God because I made them go into exile among the nations, and then collected them again to their own land; and I will leave none of them there any longer. ²⁹“And I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have ^apoured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,” declares Lord Yahweh.

5For every high priest ^ataken from among men is appointed on behalf of men in ^bthings pertaining to God, in order to ^coffer both gifts and sacrifices ^dfor sins, ²^abeing able to deal gently with the ^bignorant and ^cmisguided, since he himself also is ¹^,^dbeset with weakness; ³and because of it, he is obligated, ^ajust as for the people, to also offer sacrifices ^bfor sins in the same way for himself. ⁴And ^ano one takes this honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even ^bas Aaron was.

⁵In this way also Christ ^adid not glorify Himself to become a ^bhigh priest, but He who ^csaid to Him, “^dYou are My Son,Today I have begotten You”;

⁶just as He says also in another passage, “^aYou are a priest foreverAccording to ^bthe order of Melchizedek.”

⁷He, ¹in the days of His flesh, ²^,^aoffered up both prayers and supplications with ^bloud crying and tears to the One ^cable to save Him ³from death, and He ⁴was heard because of His ^dreverence. ⁸Although He was ^aa Son, He learned ^bobedience from the things which He suffered. ⁹And having been made ^aperfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, ¹⁰being designated by God as ^aa high priest according to ^bthe order of Melchizedek.

¹¹Concerning ¹him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. ¹²For though ¹by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you ^athe ²^,^belementary principles of the ^coracles of God, and you have come to need ^dmilk and not solid food. ¹³For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an ^ainfant. ¹⁴But solid food is for ^athe ¹mature, who because of practice have their senses ^btrained to ^cdiscern both good and evil.

Contrast of the Righteous and the Wicked

10The ^aproverbs of Solomon. ^bA wise son makes a father glad,But ^ca foolish son is a grief to his mother.

²^aTreasures gained by wickedness do not profit,But righteousness delivers from death.³Yahweh ^awill not allow the soul of the righteous to hunger,But He ^bwill push away the craving of the wicked.⁴Poor is he who works with a slack ¹hand,But the ^ahand of the diligent makes rich.⁵He who gathers in summer is a son who acts insightfully,But he who sleeps in harvest is a son who acts shamefully.⁶^aBlessings are on the head of the righteous,But ^bthe mouth of the wicked covers up violence.⁷The ^aremembrance of the righteous is blessed,But ^bthe name of the wicked will rot.⁸The ^awise of heart will receive commandments,But an ignorant fool of loose lips will be ¹ruined.⁹He ^awho walks in integrity walks securely,But ^bhe who makes his ways crooked will be found out.¹⁰He ^awho winks the eye causes pain,And ^ban ignorant fool of loose lips will be ¹ruined.¹¹The ^amouth of the righteous is a fountain of life,But ^bthe mouth of the wicked covers up violence.¹²Hatred stirs up strife,But ^alove covers all transgressions.¹³On ^athe lips of the one who has understanding, wisdom is found,But ^ba rod is for the back of him who lacks a heart of wisdom.¹⁴Wise men ^astore up knowledge,But ^bthe mouth of the ignorant fool draws ruin near.¹⁵The ^arich man’s wealth is his strong city,The ^bruin of the poor is their poverty.¹⁶The ¹^,^awages of the righteous is life,The income of the wicked, punishment.¹⁷He ^ais on the path of life who keeps discipline,But he who forsakes reproof makes ¹himself wander about.¹⁸He ^awho covers up hatred has lying lips,And he who spreads a bad report is a fool.¹⁹When there are ^amany words, transgression is unavoidable,But ^bhe who holds back his lips has insight.²⁰The tongue of the righteous is as ^achoice silver,The heart of the wicked is worth little.²¹The ^alips of the righteous feed many,But ignorant fools ^bdie for lack of a heart of wisdom.²²It is the ^ablessing of Yahweh that makes rich,And He adds no pain with it.²³Doing wickedness is like ^alaughing to a fool,And so is wisdom to a man of discernment.²⁴What ^athe wicked dreads will come upon him,But the ^bdesire of the righteous will be granted.²⁵When the ^awhirlwind passes, the wicked is no more,But the ^brighteous has an everlasting foundation.²⁶Like vinegar to the teeth and like smoke to the eyes,So is the ^asluggard to those who send him.²⁷The ^afear of Yahweh prolongs ¹life,But the ^byears of the wicked will be shortened.²⁸The ^aexpectation of the righteous is gladness,But the ^bhope of the wicked will perish.²⁹The ^away of Yahweh is a stronghold to the one with integrity,But ^bruin to the workers of iniquity.³⁰The ^arighteous will never be shaken,But ^bthe wicked will not dwell in the land.³¹The ^amouth of the righteous bears wisdom,But the tongue of ^bperversions will be cut out.³²The lips of the righteous know ^awhat is acceptable,But the ^bmouth of the wicked ¹what is perverse.
